Glazed Link and Thatched Barn – Hampshire

This use of a contemporary glazed link in a residential extension to a Grade II listed thatched barn in a conservation area in Hampshire is a clear and effective way to create a distinction between the old and the new. This design provides a seamless and modern connection between the existing historic structure and the new addition while also allowing the original building to remain visually distinct.

The glazed link serves as a transition space between the old and new, allowing natural light to flow through and providing a visual break between the two distinct architectural styles. This contemporary element provides a harmonious transition between the historic and the modern, creating a dialogue between the past and the present.
