Contemporary design for modern developments
Our expertise is in the design of small-scale, multi-unit housing projects – typically up to ten dwellings – in partnership with landowners and developers that share a passion for delivering high-quality housing, using modern, sustainable and efficient construction methods.
In our view, much of the UK’s new housing lacks ambition or aesthetic vision. It is our strong belief that new build needs new thinking, not old ideas. Our ethos is to create developments of quality and character, that respond to market demand and deliver a healthy return on investment. Well designed, high-quality housing does not have to cost more to build; it just needs balanced consideration of design, budget, environment, context, sustainability and living standards.
We often work with developers from early feasibility stage, to give an understanding of site capacity and provide outline schemes for initial appraisal. At this point, we endeavour to maximise the site potential, while considering environmental and contextual constraints such as sunlight, access, noise and neighbouring properties.
A partnership approach, and a passion for quality
From the outset, we keep to our ethos of contextually influenced, narrative-led architecture to create high-quality housing. We observe and interpret local influences in a contemporary manner, respecting site history and applying this to our design. This approach brings an authenticity to developments, so that they respect and enhance their surroundings.
Once a site has been secured, we work closely with developers through all stages of the design, planning and construction process, including liaison with consultants, local authorities and other stakeholders.
We take a holistic approach, designing houses that are in harmony with each other, and with their surroundings, enhancing residents’ lives and leaving a legacy of good architecture and environmental best-practice.
We are currently working on two multi-unit housing schemes in London, providing much needed homes for communities that are based on our housing design principles, to create viable, affordable and quality housing.
